The University of Hertfordshire is the lead hub for TASS: Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme in the East of England which includes the following partners:
- University of Cambridge
- University of Essex
- University of Bedfordshire
- Middlesex University
- University of East London
- University of Kent
The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) is a government funded sports scholarship programme which offers awards of up to £3,500 a year to athletes aged 16-28 years old. This funding enables athletes to access sports services such as:
- Strength and Conditioning
- Physiotherapy
- Sports Science Support
- Medical Insurance Scheme
- Nutrition advice
- Lifestyle support
- Sports Psychology
- 100% Me Anti-doping advice
Athletes may also be awarded funding for training and competition expenses, equipment and coaching.
The East hub currently supports 66 TASS athletes across 31 different sports, with 27 of those hosted at the University of Hertfordshire. These athletes benefit from the brand new Performance Hertfordshire facility which hosts a high performance Strength and Conditioning room alongside Bodybalance Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic.
Our UKSCA qualified Strength and Conditioning Coaches currently work with the English Institute of Sport, Arsenal Ladies FC, the England Golf Union, Badminton England and Hertfordshire Mavericks Netball Team.
Staff at Bodybalance Physiotherapy Clinic have an impressive repertoire of experience gained from working at the Beijing Olympics, three Commonwealth Games and two World University Games.
Criteria
Athletes are nominated for TASS by their sport’s National Governing Body. To be nominated, athletes must hold a British passport, be studying on a recognised education programme and be able to represent Great Britain or England in their sport.
