athlete to perform a series of movements to enable the coach to assess flexibility, strength and
It is also an opportunity to check for existing or potential injuries which may require the athlete to be referred to the on-site Physiotherapy Clinic. The S&C Coach uses the results from the screening to write a training programme for the athlete.
Strength and Conditioning training programme
Each athlete has a programme written for them based on their individual needs. Each programme is tailored to the athlete and is dependant on their sport, ability and screening results. The programme forms the basis of the athletes training regime over the course of their time on the programme. Athletes are expected to work on their programme during the weekly group S&C sessions and will be advised by the S&C Coaches when this needs updating or altering depending on each athletes requirements.
Group and Individual Strength and Conditioning sessions
Athletes have the opportunity to attend weekly group Strength and Conditioning sessions which
allows them to train alongside their fellow athletes whilst working independently on their training
programme under the supervision of an S&C Coach. A great opportunity for the athletes to get to
know their peers, experience a professional performance atmosphere and take responsibility for
their training programmes.
Each athlete is entitled to a number of one-to-one sessions with their S&C Coach. These are ideal
for working on and improving technique, making changes to programmes or just for a more
intensive training session.
Highly experienced Physiotherapists are on hand to treat athletes pro-actively as well as re-actively. The clinic works closely with the performance team to offer an integrated service in helping to prevent injuries as well as treating those post-injury. Athletes will be referred for treatment following their initial screening should any issues be identified and are encouraged to seek treatment throughout their time on the programme in order to prevent injuries occurring.
