The London 2012 Olympic torch relay begins on 19 May 2012 at Land's End and ends 70 days later on 27 July at the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium.

Following a submission by the county Olympic organisation Herts is Ready for Winners, Hatfield has been successful in being included on the official torch relay route.

The Olympic torch will visit Hertfordshire Sports Village on Sunday 8 July 2012 where it will be on display at the annual multi-sport festival the Herts Youth Games. Local people who have been nominated to carry the torch will be notified in December.
