Performance Hertfordshire provides first class strength and conditioning services for elite sports performers through Hertfordshire and the East of England. The high performance suite has a range of premier equipment and facilities such as 6 lifting platforms, power racks and fitness testing equipment. Situated within Hertfordshire Sports Village and next to BodyBalance Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, the Performance Hertfordshire strength and Conditioning gym provides an ideal and complete environment for athletes to train to win.
The Performance Hertfordshire coaching staff have over 20 years of experience between them working within the health and fitness industry and are all fully accredited with UKSCA (UK Strength & Conditioning Association), ASCA (Australian Strength and Conditioning Association) and/or the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA). They have experience coaching a vast array of athletes from a multitude of sports from grass roots development level through to world class and Olympic level.
Fiona Scott (MSc, BSc, ASCC, CSCS, CES) - Head of Physical Performance & Academic Liaison
Fiona is an S&C Coach with 10 years experience within the sports and fitness industry. After completing her BSc in Sport and Exercise science she went on to become a Personal Trainer and set up her own business helping clients and athletes achieve their goals in health and performance. Fiona joined PH in September 2009 whilst completing her MSc in Strength and Conditioning. Fiona’s work is primarily with Mavericks Netball, England Squash, England & County Golf, Women’s FA, Arsenal Ladies, TASS Athletes and University Scholars, amongst others. Fiona is also the S&C academic liaison which incorporates being the module lead for any S&C related modules and dissertations at both BSc and MSc level here at the University of Hertfordshire as well as oversee the work placement programme. Fiona’s other interests include playing lacrosse (pretty well) and squash (not so well!), travelling, watching Arsenal, skiing, music and films.
James Caithness (BSc, ASCC) - Strength & Conditioning Coach
James is an S&C Coach with 5 years experience in the sports and fitness industries, having begun his career as a Personal Trainer in 2009 while at University. During University he became interested in powerlifting, competing in 2011 for the first time. Since then James has won 2 Junior National titles and 1 Junior World title for the deadlift. Following his BSc in Sport and Exercise Science at The University of Birmingham, James has worked part time for Performance Hertfordshire. James' work is primarily with university students keen to pursue Olympic Weightlifting, Batchwood High Performance Tennis Players and Hatfield Netball amongst others. James' interests outside of the industry and competing in powerlifting include; playing golf, playing guitar and going to rock/metal gigs and hiking/outdoor pursuits.
