Salary: Starting HSV7, £30,047 plus Performance Related Pay. Salary uplift to £31,257 following successful completion of 6-month probation

Contract: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours a week)

We are looking for an exceptional and proactive individual to join the University of Hertfordshire’s Sports Village management. The successful candidate will lead the event and bookings team and be responsible for all aspects of advanced, block conference and event bookings of the Hertfordshire Sports Village facilities; including customer liaison, business development, operational liaison, invoicing and credit control. The post holder will be required to manage and motivate the bookings team ensuring high levels of efficiency and consistency, with the ability to recognise opportunities to improve service, through management tools, on-going refresher training, and further development of both the team and self. The successful candidate must be a hardworking and a pro-active self-starter with the confidence, organisation skills and resourcefulness to handle the demands of the role.


Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure delivery of events and bookings are effectively planned, the operational responsibilities are clear and clients’ expectations are met.  Build rapport and liaise with internal staff and external contractors / agencies to ensure effective delivery.
  • Management of the bookings team including monitoring of staff workload, ensuring an appropriate distribution of activity and the most effective use of staff resources.
  • Management of the invoicing and credit control for all regular and event bookings, including initial quotes and booking confirmations, payments and initiation of debt recovery where appropriate.
  • Generate repeat business from existing events and bookers by ensuring that customers receive a first class, memorable service throughout their booking / customer experience.
  • Work closely with clients and partners to ensure service agreements are fulfilled.


Skills & Experience include:

  • Excellent inter-personal skills and self-motivated, with proven experience and advanced level skills in MS Word suite as well as a high level of organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative, be pro-active, work well under pressure and be able to work as part of a busy and friendly team.
  • Experience of managing staff and delivering to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • Proven experience in administration, office procedures and an ability to manage demanding workloads.
  • Ability to work confidently and professionally with staff at all levels.
  • People and event management experience.


Qualifications Required

You will hold a Bachelors’ degree or equivalent level qualification preferably in Sports/Hospitality/Event Management, or substantial demonstrable experience.
