Swimming

About

The Swim Team is strongly linked with Hatfield Swim Club, a very successful and competitive club in both the East region and nationally.  We work closely with the ASA East Region to give our Swimmers many opportunities including Coaching Opportunities and Qualifications.

The team is mainly aimed at competitive swimmers who are looking to train and compete alongside Hatfield Swim Club and for the university at major high level competitions.

As a team we also go one step further, helping other students with their research projects, for example in areas of Sports Science and Nutrition.  Additionally, a few swimmers this year have been given the opportunity to complete a survey working with Herts ASA investigating Primary School Swimming.

Competition

The University Team do not currently compete but swimmers linking with Hatfield compete regularly under Hatfield Swimming Club.  It is our aim in the next year to take a team to BUCS competitions.

Club Trials

Trials and taster sessions will begin during the first week of term after fresher's week.

You must pre-register to attend these at either the Athletic Union Sports Fair or the SU Fresher’s Fair where you will be given further information.

All members must have signed up to the Club before their first fixture, whichever comes first.

Coaching

The team is coached by a highly experienced and qualified coach.

Coach: Beth Palmer
Chair: James Wimbury
Captain: Emily Harbisher
