Strength & Conditioning Coach

Qualifications:

MSc Applied Sports and Exercise Science, BSc Sport, and Exercise Science

Primary Roles:

Oversees the Hertfordshire Talented Athlete Programme (HTAP) & facility/equipment management and assistant lecturer.

Previous Experience:

Matt started his career in S&C while completing his BSc in sports science by interning with Sheffield Hallam’s performance department and with the GB Diving squad based in the city. He gained experience alongside his degree’s, coaching to a wide range of sports and athletes, including Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes. Other notable experiences including a placement at the University of San Francisco, Internship at Northampton Saints and Leading the GB U17’s Water polo programme. Matt Joined PH from a coaching role at Sheffield Hallam University where he led their performance Hockey, Water polo and Netball programmes as well as coaching several individual performance athletes in their physical development programmes.

 

Best part of being an S&C coach:

Seeing the hard work pay off. As coaches we can spend a lot of time with our athletes, seeing their dedication they put in during training, turn into improved performance in what they do best is the most rewarding part to being a coach.

Other Interests:

I enjoy watching the Rugby at the weekend, training in the gym or unwinding watching films.
