Use Your Experience to Help the Next Generation of Lifeguards

Being an experienced lifeguard is about much more than knowing what to do in an emergency. Over time, you develop knowledge, judgement and practical experience that can be incredibly valuable to those starting their own lifesaving careers.

The NPLQTA course gives you the opportunity to put that experience to good use. As a NPLQ Trainer Assessor, you’ll help prepare future lifeguards for the responsibilities of their role, while supporting them as they develop the skills and confidence, they need to keep others safe.

NPLQ Trainer Assessors are responsible for delivering and assessing recognised lifesaving qualifications, including the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). By becoming a Trainer Assessor, you can make a real difference not only to individual candidates, but to the wider standard of lifeguarding across the UK.

If you’re ready to share your experience and help the next generation of lifesavers succeed, enquire about the NPLQTA course at Hertfordshire Sports Village today.

Build Your Confidence as a Trainer and Assessor

The NPLQTA programme has been designed to give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to take on your new responsibilities successfully.

Across the course, you’ll learn how to plan, deliver and assess RLSS UK qualifications in accordance with national standards. You’ll also develop your communication and assessment skills, helping you create positive learning experiences and provide candidates with the support they need to progress.

At Hertfordshire Sports Village, the programme covers four key areas:

  • Train the Trainer – 1 day
  • Train the Assessor – 1 day
  • CPR and AED – 1 day
  • Qualification Specialism – 2 days

Who Is the NPLQTA Course For?

You don’t have to start your career again to take a new direction. If you already have valuable experience within lifesaving, first aid or aquatic environments, the NPLQTA course could help you build on what you already know.

The course is suitable for:

  • Experienced First Aiders
  • Pool Lifeguards
  • Open Water Lifeguards
  • Beach Lifeguards
  • Swimming Teachers with the National Rescue Award
  • Pool Responders with ER Pool who are looking to move into training and assessment.

To enrol, you must be aged 18 or over, hold Royal Life Saving Society UK Licence to Operator Membership, and have a current, full qualification in the discipline you wish to assess. For example, anyone wishing to become an NPLQ Trainer Assessor must hold a valid NPLQ.

If you’re not sure whether you meet the requirements, don’t worry.

Get in touch with Hertfordshire Sports Village and the team can help you understand whether the course is right for you.

A Supportive Pathway into Your New Role

Completing the course is an important milestone, but it’s also the beginning of your journey as a Trainer Assessor.

Successful candidates qualify as Probationary RLSS UK Trainer Assessors for AED and their chosen discipline before undertaking a supported probationary period of up to two years. During this time, you’ll have guidance from an experienced National Trainer Assessor or Mentor as you continue developing your skills and confidence.

This supportive pathway means you can gain valuable experience in your new role while continuing to work towards the high standards expected by RLSS UK.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to take the experience you’ve built up throughout your lifesaving career and use it to help others achieve theirs.
