Inspiring the Next Generation of Lifeguards

Do you have a confident swimmer who loves being in the water and wants to learn valuable lifesaving skills?

At Herts Sports Village, we're proud to build on the success of our National Pool Lifeguard Qualification programme with our own HSV Lifesavers Club – an exciting and engaging programme designed for children aged 10–15 years.

Led by our experienced and knowledgeable trainers, HSV Lifesavers Club provides a fun, progressive pathway for young people interested in water safety, rescue skills, first aid and the role of a lifeguard. Through a combination of practical pool sessions and interactive classroom activities, members will develop confidence, responsibility and essential lifesaving knowledge.

What Will Participants Learn?

Throughout the programme, members will work towards recognised lifesaving awards whilst developing skills such as:

• Water safety awareness
• Self-rescue techniques
• Lifesaving and rescue skills
• CPR and basic first aid
• Teamwork and communication
• Understanding the role of a lifeguard
• Emergency response procedures

The programme follows a structured progression, helping young people build confidence and skills at every stage. As part of the programme, participants will work towards the RLSS UK Rookie Lifeguard Bronze Awards. The Bronze Awards are the foundation level of the Rookie Lifeguard scheme and are split into three progressive stages:

• Bronze Stage 1: Introduction to water safety knowledge and basic lifesaving skills in shallow water.
• Bronze Stage 2: Building on existing skills with increased endurance, confidence and more advanced rescue techniques.
• Bronze Stage 3: Completing the core lifesaving skills required before progressing onto the Silver and Gold awards.

These awards provide a fantastic introduction to lifesaving and can help prepare young people for future lifeguard qualifications.

Who Can Join?

HSV Lifesavers Club is suitable for children aged between 10 and 15 with a minimum of stage 5 swimming ability and confidence and a a desire to learn new skills and work as a team.

When Does HSV Lifesavers Club Run?

Our term dates align with our swim course, and lessons are held every Tuesday starting at 5:15pm and 6:30pm.

Sessions last 45 minutes and rotate between pool-based practical learning and classroom-based activities.
