SECA scale is coming

Introducing the SECA TRU Ultra

Thursday 9 July, 2026

Replacing our current Boditrax scanner, the SECA TRU Ultra provides a more advanced way to measure body composition, helping you understand your health and fitness with even greater confidence.

What does it measure?

The SECA TRU Ultra provides detailed information including:

  • Weight
  • Body fat percentage
  • Fat mass
  • Muscle mass
  • Skeletal muscle mass
  • Segmental analysis (arms, legs, torso)
  • Body water measurements
  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR)

The scan takes around 24 seconds, with your results available almost instantly through the SECA myAnalytics app.

What do I need to know before my first scan?

As this is a new system, you'll need to create a SECA account before your first scan.

It's also important to remember that your first SECA scan will become your new benchmark. Because SECA and Boditrax use different technologies and calculations, your results may not match your previous Boditrax readings exactly.

This is completely normal, and future progress should be measured against your first SECA scan rather than your previous Boditrax results.

Why we've upgraded

The SECA TRU Ultra offers:

  • More detailed body composition analysis
  • Improved reporting and insights
  • Clinical-grade technology
  • Greater measurement consistency
  • Future integration with Matrix and upcoming EGYM equipment

Whether your goal is to lose body fat, build muscle or improve your overall health, the SECA TRU Ultra provides the information you need to track your progress with confidence.

If you have any questions, our fitness team will be happy to help you understand your results and get the most from your scan.

Before your first visit, Chek our FAQs:

1. Why are you replacing the old Boditrax machine?

We are upgrading to newer technology that provides enhanced body composition analysis, improved reporting, and a more modern user experience. The new scanner offers greater insight into your health and fitness progress.

2. Will my results look different on the new scanner?

Yes. Different body composition technologies use different algorithms, sensors, and reference databases. It is normal for measurements such as body fat percentage, muscle mass, and visceral fat to differ from your previous Boditrax readings.

3. Can I compare my old Boditrax results directly with my new SECA results?

We recommend treating your first SECA scan as a new baseline. While both systems measure body composition, the values may not be directly comparable due to differences in technology and calculations.

4. Has the new machine changed the accuracy of my measurements?

The SECA TRU Ultra uses newer technology and updated analysis methods. While no body composition scanner is 100% accurate, the new system is designed to provide highly consistent and reliable measurements when used correctly.

5. What measurements will the new scanner provide?

The Seca TRU will provide information such as:

  1. Weight
  2. Body fat percentage
  3. Fat mass
  4. Muscle mass
  5. Skeletal muscle mass
  6. Segmental analysis (arms, legs, torso)
  7. Body water measurements
  8. Basal metabolic rate (BMR)

6. Will I lose access to my previous Boditrax records?

Previous Boditrax records may remain accessible separately via the Boditrax application, but future scans will be recorded using the new system.

7. Do I need to create a new account?

Yes, you will need to create a new account with SECA. This will then allow you to track all of your results.

8. Is the scanning process different?

The process is very similar. You will typically:

  1. Remove shoes and socks
  2. Stand still on the platform
  3. Hold the hand electrodes
  4. Follow on-screen instructions

The scan will take roughly 24 seconds.

9. How often should I get scanned?

For most members, every 4–8 weeks is sufficient to track meaningful changes. Daily or weekly scans may show normal fluctuations that do not reflect real progress.

10. Is the scanner safe?

Yes. The scanner uses a very low-level bioelectrical impedance current that is generally considered safe for healthy individuals.

11. Can everyone use the scanner?

Some individuals may be advised not to use bioelectrical impedance devices, including people with certain implanted electronic medical devices such as pacemakers. Please consult the gym team if in doubt.

12. What should I consider my starting point on the new machine?

Your first SECA scan should be treated as your new benchmark. Future progress should be measured against this baseline rather than against previous Boditrax results.

13. Why did the gym choose the SECA system?

The upgrade allows members and staff to access more detailed body composition information, improved reporting features, and a modern platform designed to support health, fitness, and performance goals. Seca also has an up and coming integration with our Matrix equipment and the new E-GYM equipment that will be coming soon.

14. Will staff help me understand my results?

Absolutely. Our team can help explain your results, what the different measurements mean, and how to use the information to support your fitness goals.

15. What if I am unhappy because my numbers are different?

Differences between body composition systems are common and expected. The most important thing is to establish a new baseline and track your progress consistently using the same scanner moving forward.
